Getting an e-cutout and a transmission question. With my tax return money I plan on getting an e-cutout. I want a DMH cutout. I was wondering what size I should get? I have a 94 Firebird Formula. They have sizes from 2 inches all the way to 4 inches. Also...would getting two make a huge difference? I was planning on only getting one. Any help would be appreciated.
Oh and one other thing...might be better if I asked it in the transmission thread but I figure why should I clog up these forums with two threads....
My transmission is slipping a bit and not shifting too great. I was told if I caught it soon enough it could just be the torque converter and that the transmission might not be messed up yet. Is that true? Also...Would getting a stall solve my problems with my transmission if it is just in fact the converter...After all a stall is a torque converter...right?

post up what exhaust you are running and you will get your answer, if you just have a "y" pipe you only need one. im not a trans expert but start by making sure your fluid is clean and full. if its starting to slip the fluid will get dirty fast. until you know what the problem is for sure i would not get your stall/converter as i have herd a slipping trans can destroy a converter.

you might want to upgrade the exhaust before the cut out. It's sorta a waste if you ever plan on upgrading. I personally am going install a electric cut out when I put on my headers, y-pipe, and the cat back. I wanna go under there and do it all at once.

Yes it still has to be welded on you have to cut out a section and weld in the cut out. It's a waste because if you do any other upgrades the stock exhaust will really be choking it. Upgrade the exhaust and you can put a cut out in the better exhaust if you want

Well first things first find out what wrong with the trans and fix it and see how much you have to work with after that. I put coated longtubes true dials and two manual cutouts on my car for about $700 but you can do it for less then that

Alot of aftermarket catbacks or exhaust come with 3in pipes. Stock is like 2.75 or 2.5 depending on what part you measure. it differs. Its not all one size. So figure out where you want to put it and go from there. Also, theres no point in putting on a cutout if you cant drive the car. Fix the trans first!
