Im not sure if its completely necessary but you could always just buy a set of cantons off ebay that already have what you need

Hey I just bought those valve cover to and installed them. I think I paid 60$ for them. They are pretty nice I plan on just running a breather on them.

Like I say I still have alot of cleaning up to do in it. Just did H/C swap on it along with a ton of other stuff. I still have wiring to clean up and a few odds and ends.

My alt is relocated down below I dont think they would work if you have the alt in the stock location. They would need to be notched for it. Just get a alt relocation kit and be done with it.

thanks for the post up derek. I was about to have to look for that thread again to post it up for him, but this does show were it is located by modifying the factory accessory bracket. They fit very well now. I had to send the first set back because one cover was not square. I bought them from summit racing. They are the sbc highrise aluminum valve covers. I taped up the covers with painters (blue) tape; this tape comes off very well and leaves no residue, and drilled the hole with a step up bit. The grommets that i use have an internal stepped baffle. Pretty much what is it is two pieces of thick rubber inside of the grommet overlapping each other to resist oil from entering. Also these valve covers are over an inch taller than factory so less oil gets splashed up there i would imagine. I have no personal experience yet since the motor is still down. But all in all I am very happy with the overall look.

not a problem and i think you will be happy with them. Just check and make sure they are square. The material is very thin and if they do not watch it when they are tig welding it it is liable to warp a little. GL
