Default Wtf lt1 problems?

alright..i figured i would take my camaro and do some arins that i had to do..well about 3 mins into the ride the car started acting up..hit the gas and it would pop an bang..stoped and put more gas in even though i had a 1/4 tank that was only 2 weeks old..so i put 15 in it an got some 93..started up and started going again and it got worse where i made it about 100 yard up the road and as i was going to pull in a parking spot thing almost died while sputtering..park it and left running..poped the hood and the damn thing was jerking and bucking like it was on 4cyls well i go to look under the car and it just starts running fine with no problems

Maybe bad plug wires or horribly fouled plugs.
Similar thing happened to me when I put crap quality plug wires on and they got wet from road spray.

Im not the first to say the opti BUT thats the way mine acted when it took a dump on me. But start by checking the fuel system. Like the filter, the small things first

I havent got the opti wet..just seems odd that just from sitting 2 weeks it would do this..also oil pressure was normal, temp normal, volts all normal..no air in my rad or milky oil so i know i didnt hurt pop a head gasket..if its the damn opti i might just swap it to carb and pull the trans to swap to th350.

Not saying it is the opti it just sounds like what mine did, Like i said i would start by checking the fuel filter maybe its just getting clogged up. Then check your fuel pressure It could also be a bad fuel regulator or dirty fuel rails

Yeah the opti doesn't have to get wet to go bad. I would check your plugs and wires first and check the fuel filter start with the little things. But optis do just go bad for no reason sometimes

yeah i guess thats what ill do tomarrow..least it will be 40 out..lol..i got new plugs sitting..it came off to me as more of a ecu problem almost..so the opti is making sense really..like i did say car seemed to me to be getting fuel seeing it threw a big cloud of black smoke when i got it to rev freely for a second....what stikes me as odd though is my scs code just going away out of no where..i was like wth as i was limbing it back and watching my gauges..hopefuly it didnt hurt anything else while the motor was chugging and stuff..

is there any easy ways to testing opti ? I seen the o2 thing to do..its a 94..my next step is going carb which is around 1500$ before selling 4l60,and fuel injection crap..either that or get a lq4 seeing this motor has 153k now

man i was hopeing it wasnt that....puts me up the wall of either converting to carb ls1 or converting the lt1 to carb..i figure the opti will cost me 500$ to fix myself and then pray that is the problem or i can convert to carb for 1000$ before selling off the injection stuff and then swap to th350 for 500$..

well i been waiting on a opti that i got from a member to do the swap..but heres a kicker..i started up to day and poped the hood..made sure my maf was pluged in right and wires wherent cracked and such..doing this i relized that i had my intake barely even on my throttle body and the bottom might of been off some what..so i slide it back on an tighten..car was running the whole time jump in my driver seat and to some quick revs again..car did the same at first and poped in the exh from being rich around 4k and the 3rd time it moved up to 5k an so i slow reved it at 2k to 4k and seemed fine..then poped the gas a couple times and the loading in the exh wouldnt happen till 55k and climbing..so im lost now..car isnt doing anything it did when i first drove it or when i let the car idel..

If your intake was off that would cause you problems, that may have been all it was

might be stupid question but is it damp by you and on these certian days you drove it, condisacince (sp) plays a big roll on arching for the wires.

Also, I'd check your fuel pressure, your fuel pump might be going. Especially with this (well today it was fine but yesterday it wasnt). Plus you said you are running rich now, have you touched your computer or Injectors anytime soon because that will deffenly infect the air/fuel ratio.

Also, someting that maybe over looked is how is your spark are you 180 across the board or what.

There could be many things wrong with the car but for what im reading your story is so jumpy its a tad confusing. The Opti or Fuel Pump are the two things i would invest my time looking at.
