I don't think the crank cares what size the rods are...

...unless I'm missing something here.

Thats what I thought...I know with the stock crank it doesnt matter as long at the rods and the pistons are both the same.

I dont have experience with 383 kits, but all they are is a different stroke...you should be good as long as the rods and pistons are 6".

you can use 6.0 inch rods on a crank that was designed for 5.7 but you can't use 5.7 rods on a crank that was designed for 6.0. It all depends on the size of the counterweights as I understand it. As long as the pistons are FOR 6.0 inch rods and the compression height correlates than you should be able to use those rods and pistons regardless of the crank. The only reason that I would send them back is if you plan on using either alot of boost or alot of nitrous and would like to have the added material in the piston. Otherwise if it is an NA motor I would just use them.

The crank doesn't care what length rods you use. It's the pistons (piston height).

the 383 crank will work with either size rod. if it said for a 5.7 it should have said works with, because it works with 6inch as well.

the pistons and rods you bought will also work because the location of the wrist pin on the piston should be higher to make the 6inch rod work

It is possible for the counterweight on a crank spec'd for 6.0" rods to hit the piston skirt if you try and use 5.7" rods with it. Picture how the crank/rod/piston would line up at bottom dead center.

Remember I said POSSIBLE, not definite, probably, likely or not likely.
