I believe you could get the power with want you want without the supercharger. I have a supercharger, shorty headers, meth injection, air filter, dish pistons, MSD 6BTM and that's pretty much it for power adders and I believe it's pushing 400 or more at the wheels. However, that are problems that come with it and puts much more strain on your engine. If you get all the bolt ons maybe even add nitrous, I believe it should be plenty.

a supercharger should get you to 400hp on a lt1. full exhaust, bolt on parts and a good tune will get you over that. make sure you find a well taken care of motor before you boost it or head/ cam swap.

If your boosting it and expecting 400 alone you should do a bottom end. If your boosting and doin H/C then your going to need a bottom end to hold that kind of stress. If your just looking for about 400 get an LE2 setup with a decent cam and full bolt ons. Once you get into Forced induction things get finicky, fast.

Are you looking for 400HP at the wheels or at the flywheel? There is a huge difference in build methodology between them.

A supercharger setup will be a money pit on a stock bottom end (or a built bottom end for that matter). The most cost-effective way to get your 400HP is a heads/cam package from AI or LE with all of the bolt-ons. This can be had from a bone-stock car for around $4000 (give or take).

A supercharger alone will cost you $4000+ and you still don't have the bolt-ons. Not to mention, the stock bottom end can't handle much boost and detonation, and you'd probably get around 370 or so HP.

And what is an "MS3" cam?

"ms3 cam" is a LS based cam.

When you start doing head/cam swaps on high mileage motors, it's a toss up on what can happen. Many people do it, and get away with it, while others do it, and spin a bearing within 5 miles. And just remember, once you start cracking the valves open with a larger cam, reliability does go down. I can go outside and start up my 306 car at any time, and I daily drive it. But there are things that have to be done to keep it running in tip top condition that a stock motor doesn't have to have done to daily drive. Do your research, buy books, search and browse the forums, and you will be alright. I started with my car at 17, not having a clue about it. But with the help of ls1tech and camaroz28, I learned a lot and my car has came a long way with me doing all the work. Good luck, and as said above, an MS3 is an LS cam, and go with an LE2 set-up if you want 400+ to the wheels.

Yeah good luck putting that ms3 in there wrong motor. Before you start expecting big reliable power you need to make sure that bottom end is in good shape
