Default Best location for MSD 6AL box

I will be installing a 6AL this spring. Since my car is a sleeper, I would like to place it out of the way (hidden, like everything else). I saw another thread where the PO put it under the console in the cabin. Would that get hotter than a unit placed under the hood next to the heat of the engine? What about heat sinks and fans to help cool it, such as those used to cool CPUs?
I saw a race car a couple of years ago where the box was sitting on the dashboard, far away from the engine. Not real pratical for me, but it shows they wanted it away from the heat of the engine.

They need to have plenty of air circulation so i would not put it under the console. Somewhere in the engine bay thats open is a good spot

mines right under the hood behind the fuse panel and under the fuel lines ,just gotta watch where ya mount it as the hood strut can interfere with it and the fuel lines .also put some plastic conduit around the fuel lines just so they dont rub threw keeps wiring nice and short ,neat

It is the very first item on that page. They just finished making it not too long ago. I am doing my conversion in a couple weeks!

I really appreciate the creativity discussed here. I work in the electronics field, so placing a supposed heat-sensitive electronic device in an area that generally runs about 180 degrees or so (+/- some degrees), with passive cooling, makes me shiver.
In the air flow, away from the heat-generating device, passive cooling makes sense, as well as in a controlled environment (cabin) with passive cooling, as does hidden with active cooling (heatsinks/fan) in a controlled environment. The goal, unless I am missing something, is to keep the box at the lowest temperature possible. Some empirical evidence would be nice to have, but probably not forthcoming.

I stuck my 6a to the right of my CAI, if you were looking at the car from the front. I'll clean up the wiring sometime down the road though when I do ABS delete and some other stuff. I could have shorted the wires quite a bit.

I like that location a lot. Did you make the brackets yourself? They look like aluminum bar or strap, if I see them correctly.

yep, can't remember if they were 5" or 6" strap, put 2 90* bends w/ an inch between em so it clears the latch.
