Did you bother going with performance brake pads? Our cars are quite heavy you know.

I switched over to aftermarket rotors and Hawk Ceramic pads and still on the LT1 brake calipers. It made a world of difference, braking is so efficient and no fade even after numerous high speed full pedal stops.

I've had problems all of the 6 months. Just the other day I needed to stop very fast and the car did not stop for the red light. I braked with plenty of stoping distance and my hole car went over the white lines. I just don't see how my car does not stop like an ls1 car. I just wanted you guys to throw coments of things I could have missed. And gi **** your self fat chick.

Did you install new rotors when you changed the calipers and pads?

I would say you definitely have something wrong. Granted, I have no idea how you drive, but if you're running through red lights, it sounds like it's stopping worse in comparison to the LT1 brakes.

The problem is definately NOT the brakes it sounds like the braking system has a problem.

Well you said that you installed Autozone brand pads. Right there is the first problem. Go with a quality aftermarket pad such as Hawk and rebleed your entire brake system with new quality brake fluid. New LS1 rotors should be fine for street use, even cheap ones.

BS dude! My so called "crappy" autozone pads brake better then my old set of "quality" Hawk pads. I hated those things. Waste of money.

I haven't used their pads since upgrading 5 years ago to C5 brakes, but I can tell you the Autozone carbon metallic pads (that's what they were called back then) were night and day in comparison to the HP+ pads, although the Autozone Gold pads may be more comparable to the HPS or better now, dunno. Then again, the HP+ or more track oriented.

Moving on, I would start with a full rebleed of the entire brake system to rule out any air in the system, which could be possible after doing a brake swap.

I've been using the Duralast Golds for a while..I've been looking into a better one though. Next time I need Rotors I'm going Slotted, and something good for the Pads.

From my experience, here's what I would look over.

1. Did you properly bed-in your brakes? http://www.zeckhausen.com/bedding_in_brakes.htm

2. What rotors did you use, autozone, stock? Get some brembo blanks or powerslot rotors if you want the look of slotted/drilled. I would get brembo blanks myself, www.rotorsonline.com

3. Did you properly bleed the brake system? How does the peddle feel?

4. Try different pads, Hawk HPS or Hawk Ceramic.
HPS - http://www.byunspeed.com/product_inf...oducts_id=3408
Hawk Ceramic - http://www.byunspeed.com/product_inf...oducts_id=4755

5. The LS1 brake should be a huge upgrade over stock LT1 brakes, something is definitely wrong.

Autozone pads are great for a DD and occasional fast stopping. They are horrible for high speed or repeated highway run stoppings, they fade quickly from my experience.

Thanks for the help. The rotors were used, I got then turned. I'm going to get better rotors and pads all the way around, flush the system and see where that takes me. Is the master cylinder different?

Not different enough that it would matter no.

To upgrade the stopping capability of almost any braking system about all thats needed is different pads and a SMALLER bore master cylinder---now if you are road racing , it might be that you would need a thicker rotor so you could have more cooling, etc, or lighter weight components since the brakes are all UNSPRUNG weight----

Just where do you feel that your brakes are inadquate?????and also remember that if you are going for max brakes you need to get away from the anti skid stuff and put the control in the driver.

Take 'em off and put some airplane tires on there and see how fast you stop.
