This little tit for tat aside, brakes do not stop the car. Brakes stop the wheels. Tires stop the car. If you're running economy 195 sized tires on your car, the ls1 brakes aren't going to help, because you could lock your wheels up with your old brakes. If your really want to stop faster, have some tires on there that will take a hell of a lot of torque to break loose. Then go about increasing the torque.

Also, you could still stop a car with no brakes and airplane tires, a lot more easily than you could stop a car with brakes and bicycle tires. Engine braking and then lots and lots of scrub braking. A 9g turn will bleed that energy quick.

Or, just avoid whatever you were going to hit.

Well, without the brakes the tires would be pretty much worthless, bicycle or otherwise, with regards to stopping the car. The tires actually transfer the force applied by the brakes to the ground. I'm sure the same could be said for the wheels, or even the rotors. Perhaps the LS1 brakes don't fade as badly as the stock LT1 brakes. That's not a direct function of the tires, but does affect the braking ability of the car. Perhaps there are many more variables we could discuss related to braking, while arguing over semantics, and contributing little to the discussion at hand.

To bring this thread back up...

Whats the trick to get the spindle, off the lower/upper balljoint and the tie-rod? It seems to be stuck on all three castle-nut locations...

Any other pointers when doing this swap?

Ok, my dad suggested that also, lol. I was also told to use a pickle fork. Thanks!

The last time someone told me that I beated on it for 20-30 min I hate those things. And no they don't break free with ease untill you hit the right spot. I have not found that spot yet and it has been five years.
