Default Lt1 brakes to ls1 brakes. Stops the same?

I took off my stock lt1 brakes and put ls1 brakes on my 96ss, but it did not make a difference in stopping? I did not do anything to the rear but the fronts have new pads and all. Any answers.

Well I had a 97 SS and I went from stock brakes to 13" dual piston Vette brakes then back to stock before I sold it and man there was a world of difference in stopping power. Now my current car had the LS1 Camaro brake swap already done when I got it and the 12" brakes are not as good as the Vette setup but still way better than the stock LT1 brakes. What pads are you running and did you bed them in properly, also bradied brake lines will make a HUGE difference.

You said you have new pads and (assuming from the "all") rotors. Are they fully broken in?

You really should have done a different comparisson! I will assure you that the brake swap makes a difference..

I swapped mine first out back and the car was a different animal, the car did not dive as hard in the front.

A few weeks later i swapped the fronts out and went for quite a few high speed brake stabs. The braking was far more superior to the Lt1 set up,car stops roughly 4-7 feet sooner at 60mph(i used a fire hydrant for distance)the feel seems to be more controlled.....

Lastly, the stock Ls1 rotors suck and will warp with a few high speed hard stops,i definately put the entire braking system to the TEST which cost me an additional 340.00 for upgraded rotors and pads that are not installed yet!

There is a difference but my car just dosent stop half as good as my brothers 99 TA. Are the rear brakes what's going to make the difference?

Check the rears. Do you know how much pad is left in on the rears? I have never been a fan of doing just the fronts or the backs unless there is at least 65% or more pad left. When I did mine the pedal was alot stiffer and I had actually done all 4 of the lt1 brakes only months for I got the hair up my *** to do the LS1 conversion.
Also did you buy new rubber ls1 lines going from the hard lines to the calliper with new copper crush washers?
Did you check that the pistons moved free and thier not sticking and is the hardware (calliper slides, and calliper braket) all clean and greased as well as moving free in the slide?

You still haven't answered the broken in question. You can't expect much difference until the pads have seated fully. If nothing is wrong, you should notice a significant difference in braking.

Does anybody have a part # for the stainless brake lines, for the front? Would you need SS lines for an LS1 car, or for the LT1 car that your upgrading?

Everything that I've found, LS1 brakes are definitely an upgrade over an LT1 setup.

Okay, they have been on the car for 6 months and now your having problems? Or are you just used to them already? They make a big difference, thats why they install bigger brakes on cars...to slow them down faster.
