Nice looking kit, but looks to be a little pricey when compared to the performance you'd get on Port and Polishing the stock heads with AI or LE...

Not really cause your getting gaskets rockers push rods ARP bolts and other things. Once you add that to an LE (which i have ) or AI heads it is pretty close

Are you considering that 430hp is FLYWHEEL, gross, STD. Make that rear wheel net, SAE and the number could easily be 100rwhp lower, maybe more.

One popular LT1 builder sells 440hp engines that make roughly 325 at the wheel behind an A4, the highest engine dynoing setup I have seen from him was 540fwhp and only 418 at the wheels and that was a solid roller LT4 stroker so that was not a good number.

The point was many people do not understand the losses from flywheel STD to rear wheel SAE and get all impressed by a flywheel number.

I am sure the Trickflow package is quality parts, just don't want anyone mistaking it for comparable output to a ported heads package.

I called trickflow about those heads when they first came out. They claimed 500hp out of the box. I asked for a cam recomendation. The guy said we just came out with a topend kit and I asked what will it make power wise? he said 430hp on stock bottom end. I asked him how they tested it and claimed they had a test car. BS When I asked them to recomend a cam to make 500 on a 383 he said I have to give the number to Advanced induction. I asked why they claim 500hp out of the box if they had no idea how to make it? no response, just call AI and they will tell you. bs AI was still using the older head. doubt it makes 430 since they don't really seem to have any info on what intake they used(lt1 or other) or injector size, or tuning info. I doubt it was real world tested on anything but a flow bench. I went LE

As already covered the 430hp number is an ENGINE dyno number and a REALLY REALLY easy one to hit.

You talked to the equivalent of a receptionist and neither of you understood much.

Again I think money is better spent on porting but this is a much better option for the catalog shoppers than the Edelbrock stuff.
$350 less and comes with rockers, guideplates, and fasteners you will need. Granted the Edelbrock has an intake with it BUT it is an intake that all indications seem to be it is NOT an upgrade.

thank you...

LE and AI can put down over 400whp AT THE WHEELS with factory reworked heads...this kit has 430 Flywheel HP...big difference, and I don't care what else the trickflow kit comes with...it still makes worls less power than a good LE2 setup.
