Throw a cam in it. I think it cost me about 800-900 for a cam only setup.

Ditch the ******* junk bbk's and get your **** tuned properly. No reason a stock LS1 should eat you up that bad.

A stall, gears, longtubes, and get it to HOOK hard and you'll own stock LS1's...

You'll beat him for week and then he'll mod his and kick your ***. Hope you have another couple grand if you want to keep up.

My little Hotcam Engine was owning them pretty good, then the LS1 guys had a Cam and bolt-ons, and they got me.

I said f it and swapped. Now I have no problem with LS1 cars..

I don't have too much trouble with most LS cars either.

If you got him from launch and then lost at speed a stall is not going to help that, as stall is a great mod but is for the launch mostly.

I don't know much about the BBKs specifically but I know the b-body guys that used the SLP shorties which were I believe 1 3/4 found them to work wonderfully at least on bolton/mild cars. I think headers are over benchraced on most forums.

get rid of the 4.10 gears and get some 3.73. you can hold him off much better on the top end with just that trade out in gear sets. stall will help make sure the gears dont go to waste, and a set of long tubes will definately help you to breathe better on the top end. get some LPP stainless headers. they arent much more than the pacesetters, and are identical to the kooks at half the cost.

and just FYI, if the car has nitrous and you havent sold it yet, id keep it and use it. its the best bang for the buck mod you will ever do. i spray a 150shot on my stock bottem end LT1 with 136k on the odometer. performs flawlessly. besides, the only people that ever complain about nitrous are the ones that just lost.

For cheap, use a damn nitrous kit and surprise him, most people will get scared when you pull up camming and just know it is over.

haha well thanks guys for all the input but call me old fashion but idk about the nitrous. Ill probably save up and get a good cam and heads. I have beat a couple of ls1 z28s but idk if the slp package has anything to do with it his is also a manual and mine is an auto. What would you guys think i could get for the nitrous kit in it right now? Also if i do plan on caming it should i wait to get it tuned.

You guys are way overcomplicating this.

He has an auto with NO stall!!! That's gonna run like *** no matter how you look at it.

Get a quality stall and tranny cooler, and save the rest of the cash for longtubes and the inevitable heads and cam later on.

You will take him down low, up top, back and forth, and side to side by only adding a good stall.

You could probably find a complete used one for 300-600 depending on what it comes with. I got mine for 475 shipped and it came with the nitrous kit, 100hp jets, purge valve, msd ignition box, window switch, and all the wiring for a LT1.
