DART block?

DART block? Sorry if there has been a major thread or something on this since the first ones, but I haven't been around much for a while. Last I knew it looked like it was going to be built but I never really heard anything after that. Anybody know if there was ever any updates?
I believe all the kids on the internet with no money promised to buy one but when they spoke to distributors and reconsidered tooling costs it became clear that the ACTUAL sales volume would not be there.

haha, gotta be honest I am kind of "one of those kids" at the moment except for that I never said I would get one as soon as it came out and actually did have every intention of getting one probably in a couple years. Sucks to hear that it didn't really go anywhere.
I think it would have been great to have but in all honesty I thought from day one it was a bad idea business wise. The market is not there.
Heck most folks struggle to get a decent result out of a stock shortblock, they spread their checking account thinner yet and they will make more compromises in all the worst areas just to have the bigger engine.

Verdad Gallardo You know a couple years ago a few "LT1 Bowtie" blocks surfaced that had been prototypes. If there actually was a market for a big LT1 block those things would have been sold in a matter of days, they weren't.
There certainly are individuals who genuinely would buy one, BUT not as many as claimed they would have. That is why the project flopped after they spoke to the dealers, the ones on the front line that see no real market in the LT1, not enough of a market to support this kind of R&D outlay anyhow.

Yeah the stock block is for sure a pretty good block. If it wasn't there would probably be a much bigger market for an aftermarket block (one would imagine anyway). Honestly though the thing I was really excited about wasn't so much really even big cube builds as awesome as that would be. I really liked the idea of more options for bore/stroke ratio, especially for high-revving applications. Ah well, too bad but I can understand why it didn't end up working. Now I just need to decide if I'll be using my stock LT1 block or a 6.0 iron block

and I'll admit I was another one who said I would buy a dart block one day in the future but didn't claim I would buy it as soon as it was released. owell, it would of been nice for us LTx fans but not so nice for dart, probably would of taken over a decade for them to recoup their expenses and start turning a profit off it.
unless they made it with the ability to accept Gen 1 heads there is no use. There isn't a head on the market that could make use of that size block for the LT1.
fair enough, but still, how many people are actually going to max out an LT1 realistically? I can see why they didn't build the block. The LT1 motor/block has more potential than most will every use anyway...
whats awesome? you dont think the new block would have helped? i guess more cubes wouldnt help either huh? or the added strength? hmmmm, what was i thinking?
