Default Subframe connector install

Someone told me one time that when I get my subframe connectors welded up, to disconnect the computer along with the battery for good insurance. Is this true? The battery is a no brainer, but the ecm too?

Yes because the pcm wiring harness is grounded to the chassis and when you ground the welder, you could short out the pcm. I just completely removed my computer when I had mine welded in.

I welded my subframes, exhaust and a few other small things without disconnecting the battery on quite a few cars with absolutely no problems

I guess you can look at it two ways...

If you don't disconnect, something might get fried.

If you do disconnect, nothing can get fried.
