I just know that I need some more seat time and maybe my goals will be achieved. I did think that 75 mph was a little low tho...and I was running on street tires and avoiding the water as much as possible and turning them over just a few times to clean them off. I know better than to do a PRO-MOD burn out on street tires. And I don't have the money to replace them
I ran 9.6@75 with my auto in TERRIBLE D/A. So i would imagine youre good for 78. 60 ft is all about momentum. That helps you get rolling better. Thats what you need. I know youre probably scared of your 10 bolt breakin that just comes with the territory. And theyre cheap lol. But to run your car to the most of its potential youre going to need like a 2.08 60 ft or better. Thats a low elevation track so you will probably get your best ETs right now while the weather is still cool.

I know how you feel bud

Previous owner got a 9.0@78mph on a mostly stock 97 WS6 A4 with flowmaster catback

First time I took my Trans Am out to the drag strip with SLP LMII catback, 3.73's, 3600 stall, built tranny, bbk headers (previous owner added them), and crappy Sumitomo tires I ran a 9.5@79mph with a 2.5 60 ft. Tires were spinning like mad man! I was literally sitting sideways half of the 1/4 mile. My best time was an 8.85@75mph with 1.9 60 ft and that was literally babying the gas all of the way out of the hole.

Get some seat time, some good tires, a good launch technique and watch your times go down

You're not gonna like my answer but put your cat con BACK on the car and it will go faster...

The fact that removing the cat on a stock car makes it go PIG rich, coupled with the fact that you still have the paper filter is just gutting the cars performance.

Do an autozone CAI if you can't do anything else just yet and put the cat back on or get a tune and I bet money you will pick up a few MPH.

I can help you with tweaking the tune if you aren't ready to shell out for that either.

Tune-up, seat time, and DR's will do wonders for those times.

Also how hot is the car getting in the staging lanes? I noticed a considerable loss of power as I saw the temps shoot up sitting in the lanes. A manual fan switch will change all of that.

I have had it checked and I am not running rich...I did a little bit of tuning on it. I am not really scared of the 10 bolt its just that I was exactly sure how I needed to launch it...So I am going to get more practice. While I am driving my temp runs at 175 or less. And in the staging lanes it went a little above the 210 mark so yeah its getting a little warm.

Thanks for all the help guys. I'm OP's brother I'm sure he'll be in here to chime in. I was there when those times were ran and I KNOW there was stuff left on the table. I really hope he breaks 9's or at least comes really close. I'll let him use my dr's and we will see what happens.

I ran my 8.8/80.7mph at a DA of 1400' on street tires, if he can't break into the 8's with DR's there is definitely something wrong.

Yeah for sure. I am going to try and do a tune-up and then see what I can do. I would like to get my LT headers that I have had sitting in the garage for 6 months installed. I am looking at getting new spark plugs, wires and a CAI and see where that gets me. I have in the works a complete LE swap when I have the time and more importantly the money....

I have a friend that is a tuner and he adjusted some things for me with his program. I heard that it only runs rich if the SES light is on. My light is off!

Definitely want to keep the temps down in the lanes. Heat robs horsepower.

They are programed rich from the factory. Thats why after a tune they run better due to the advanced timing and leaning out of the fuel.

The slowest LT1 camaro Ive ever owned still went 9.38 @ 77mph with a 2.3 60foot. It was all stock with 18" z06 wheels.

Something has to be wrong with your car...or your just not driving it. You should run better than that even if you dumped it @ 6k and missed 3rd.

I agree, hell my buick GS in sig runs 8.7's @ 79 1/8, 13.8 @ 101 1/4. 2.0 60ft on 225 60 16 traction ta's lol. Imo your down on power some, get that 60ft down... that well help but your trap speed is still low imo...

I know that I didn't drive it to it full potential...and I think I may be a little down on power as well. I am just going to do a tune-up and get some more practice with launching and see what happens.
