Default Whats a good mph for an 1/8?

Ok so I went to the local 1/8th mile track and it was the first time that I had taken my T/A to the track. So I wasn't exactly sure what to expect. Well the only mods are !cat and magna-flow exhaust. Its a M6 with 3.42. And I only hit 75 mph on both runs. When on the 2nd run my 60 ft was .3 tents better. But I only gained .2 tents on the e.t. And at about 65 mph it feels like it just layed down NO pulling at all. I am sure that I need a good tune-up but is 75 mph normal? I don't have the DA but the track is 616 ft above sea-level.

yeah that seems a little low. But it depends on your 60ft times. With my stock LT1 auto i was trapping 79mph with a 2.0 60ft. What were the rest of the #'s

I no expert on LT1's but I would at least say the mph should be at least 78. With your car being as old as it is I'm sure some fluid changes and maint. are needed. Regardless of what your 60' time was to have a 3 tnths better 60' and only gain 2 tnths something just don't add up. Do a tune up on the car and see if it improves. If not look at something else.

Well I didn't really want to put the numbers up because I am embarrassed about them...but oh well...the first run like I said I took off easy because I didn't want to spin and I cut a WHOPPING 2.7 60 ft. with an et of 9.92 at 75.xx mph. Then on the second run I cut an AMAZING 2.4 60 ft with an et of 9.76 at 75.xx mph as well. Like I mentioned in original post it felt like it was just laying down at around 65 mph.

It's your driving that's the issue. Get the 60 down to a 2.0 and you'll see results more characteristic of your car.

I know that I should be able to achieve a better 60 ft but I did shift really well between gears...so I don't think that is the problem. Maybe I can get a 9.2xx at 78.xx mph with some more practice on street tires. And I hope to get a 8.99 at who cares the mph with some radials! Do you guys think this is possible with only my short lists of mods?

I'm also near stock and ran 8.8 @ 81mph in the 1/8th on a 2.13 60' time and went on to go 13.69 @ 102.5mph. You've got some driving to do, and that's probably whats hurting your times.

It was your first time taking it down the track. Crap happens nobody runs their car to its full potential on their first couple passes. Remember what I ran my first few times but I kept going back and improving each day. You'll will do the same.

WOW!!!! Those are promising numbers. That is exactly what I plan to do. So Big Bird when do you want to go to the track again and let me borrow those radials?

That was on 245/50/16 Potenza RE750's. I should have tried airing them down a tad, I was really fighting my launch - it was only like 50*, and evening, so the surface was cool, and hooking was nightmare. I think I can find some deep 2.0 60' times in a bit warmer weather and push for a 13.5, I'm looking at a tune too and make pick up a tiny bit there.

Practice is key. What are you doing with your burnout? If you're on streetires, bypass the waterbox and just turn the tires over once or twice to get any gravel or water off them, you don't need to try and heat them up, you're just wasting rubber and glazing the tires over. If you're on a drag tire, follow the manufactures recommended steps to reach optimum temp, some tires want a lot, some don't need as much. I launch around 3000rpm, with a quick lift off the clutch (not a drop) and a quick squeeze on the throttle. As long as I don't overdue my right foot usually get a light chirp with a little tire shake as it hooks up, and then its on from there, make good, intentional shifts, and make sure you take it beyond the beams before you lift. Make darn sure you know where the other guy is at when going for the return road, I've had a few psychos cut right down on top of me, I even took the car into the grass once to avoid being hit, and you likewise don't want to pull infront of a car with a stuck throttle or weak brakes.

OP races at the same track I do. The altitude is 616ft above sea level but I have no idea on the DA. Its north Alabama if that helps at all.

616' is really nice to run at compared to my 2400' looking at old timeslips before i did bolt ons i was running 78mph in the 1/8 stock..

so i would think CAI and exhaustand good DA at 600' should see 81-83
just launch it as hard as possible and keep the spinning down to a minimum.

OP doesn't have a CAI it is still stock w/ a paper filter. ALL he has is cats cut off with a magnaflow muffler. I honestly do not see a 80mph et with his car as it sits. SORRY Bro!!!! I do see a 78mph as it sits couple that with a descent 60' and I see 9.0-9.2's all day. I really think that the car has more in it than was shown. Ferg get back to the track and launch that thing. It ain't your POS IRS Cobra you used to have so you don't have to worry at all with a 2k launch. Trust me I did it last Sat. in hinesight I should've launched harder.

My M6 with a CAI and !CAT went 9.2 @ 79.47 MPH
Let it spin a little bit! Then you'll get the MPH up some!

I know that I need some more seat time. I am running 275/45/17 in the front. And 315/35/17 in the rear. So I have some meaty rubber in the back to help with the launch. I just know that I need some more seat time and maybe my goals will be achieved. I did think that 75 mph was a little low tho...and I was running on street tires and avoiding the water as much as possible and turning them over just a few times to clean them off. I know better than to do a PRO-MOD burn out on street tires. And I don't have the money to replace them
