Default WTF happened to my T/A?

When I got home from work today, I shut off the car and heard a loud noise from the front of the car. It was the headlight motor. It seemed to keep going after the light was down. Now it does this every time the lights are turned off. Also, my headlights open up everytime I turn on the parking lights and fogs. The headlights dont come on until I turn them on, but they open as soon as the parkinglights are turned on. WTF?!?!?!?!

Common problem on the Firebirds, just disconnect the wire to the head light motor till you can get a new motor.

So hang on just a minute. That is a common problem mine has been doing it for over two years...its not a "huge" deal. It is just the plastic gears that got stripped out. All you have to do is turn the gear around and it will stop doing that. So you are telling me that before this happened you could turn on your fog lights and parking lights and the headlights would stay down. If that is the case then I want to fix my gear so that I can do that and the lights won't pop up

Yes very common problem, a lot of information about it on the boards.
You can either take it apart and flip the plastic gear, or buy a metal ebay one that works very well.

Oh and to answer your question yes, the headlights are supposed to stay down when only the parking lights are on. If they come up it is because of the gear

http://www.bfranker.badz28.com/headl...htgearfailures

tons of great info and how-to fix it guides here...it explains yur problem exactly. I went thru the same thing with both of my headlight motors. Yes, when you have a stripped gear and you turn on the fog lights/running lights, the motors WILL pop up. The fix is easy, and if it doesnt work, there is a brass gear kit available on his website above.
