Default Little updates...

The motor is at the machine shop, detonation did a good job on the pistons, rings and bearings. lesson learned.... now its getting a half fill (.060 over) custom domed JE pistons, to get me almost to the 14:1 compression range, new Bauer HR cam (should be a screamer up top), and a lonnies double pumper setup to keep up with the motor on E85. Since the motor is down its given me time to finish wiring up my standalone fuel system and the timing retard for my msd 6al-2 box. Still gonna try to make it to the shootout, but this motor work is REALLY cutting into my rollcage budget.

Sounds good. I've been thinking about that ignition box as well. Whats your opinion of it? I wanted more for the 2-step option

its cool, other than my newer laptop quit working, and the software isn't compliant with the windows 98 on my old tuning laptop. The two step is pretty nice, no banging or shooting flames that i know of. Not really hoping for 13s, maybe low 11s on motor depending on if I can drive or not, which i don't think i can lmao

Sucks about your motor. Hope to see you at the shootout though.

What caused the detonation that killed your motor, did it just run lean on the e85?

no i was limping the old 13.5:1 motor on pump gas, with 30 degrees of timing... aparently wasn't limping it enough By the time I converted over to e85 the detonation had already started eating a few pistons, and the rings weren't sealing so well. I run a 4" exhaust, with the cutout open all the time, no real way to hear the detonation. It dyno'd fine on 100 octane, but this crappy oxygenated california 91 octane was a no go. I had the quench PERFECT, the piston was so close to the head you can see a clean outline of the chamber on the pistons, they were probably just barely touching. Oh well, E85 will run great at 14:1 on this motor.

Why would you run a standalone fuel cell w E85?

tunability with a simple regulator adjustment rather than fiddling with a bunch of jets.
