The Best V8 Stories One Small Block at Time
By the time I converted over to e85 the detonation had already started eating a few pistons, and the rings weren't sealing so well. I run a 4" exhaust, with the cutout open all the time, no real way to hear the detonation. It dyno'd fine on 100 octane, but this crappy oxygenated california 91 octane was a no go. I had the quench PERFECT, the piston was so close to the head you can see a clean outline of the chamber on the pistons, they were probably just barely touching. Oh well, E85 will run great at 14:1 on this motor.
