Default Safe CR with E85 on TC78 383.

What would be an ideal compression ratio for a TC78 383 looking for 700+ to the wheels. I'll be running a large 4" thick intercooler for now. Meth might be an option, but I need to know what CR I can run with just an intercooler.

Also will stock fuel lines support E85 or do they need to be changed to stainless or something that'll handle alcohol? Will twin walbros, stock lines and 80lb injectors be enough for 700hp to the wheels. Fuel pressure can be upped to compensate for high duty cycle.

talk to lonnie for your fuel system needs, 700 rwhp is going to be tough on E85, that's a lot of fuel you're flowing. What's your budget look like?

Why would 700 be tough on E85? Expensive, but not tough. A buddies lsx makes 1250+ on stock 346 cubes on e85 and a big huffer.

Twin walbros will handle the task

stock lines will become an issue, they're only good to about 800 hp on gas, not e85. i think twin walbros will cut it at the 700 hp level, not sure how they'd do higher than that. Another thing, walbros aren't e85 compatible, that's why i asked what his budget was.

My tuners car makes 968 on E85 w two walbros.

He uses a different part number walbro than most do, but has never had issues with E85.

He has built fuel systems and tuned a lot of E85 / boost applications.

He says the 2 walbros and MSD boost a pump are good for 1000+ and he has a few cars at that level running that setup so not just conjecture.

Walbro's arent technically diesel compatible either but there are LOT of people out there running them with diesel, myself included for the last 3yrs on the same pump and no issues.

I'm trying not to spend over $1000 on a fuel system. That's why I was wondering what the twin walbros and stock lines will handle. If it just more economical to run meth and 91 octane, I'll just do that. Cause I sure as hell am not paying for race fuel as this will be a street car.

700+ through the automatic is a lot of power, I'd say twin 255's and boost a pump to be safe. I've never liked running on the edge with a fuel system. The stock lines might get you there, again though you will be on the edge and I personally wouldn't do it. If you are going to stick with e85 I'd run 10.5:1 to 11.0:1, get some ok heads and cam, strong shortblock and no reason it won't make 700rwhp. You will also want to bump up your fuel pressure a lot to make 700+ on 80's, I'd just shove a bigger injector in it.

No reason you can't shove 18-22lbs down it on e85 without blinking.
