Default TB bypass and hypertech

Sorry, I've got a few small noob questions for you guys. First, I've got a friend that offered me his hypertech programmer for my 94 Z, is it really worth it? From what I found on the hypertech website it's really only useful for a4 cars? mine is m6. I'm curious if anyone has had any good experience with them? Also, I'm curious about the throttle body bypass mod. The shoebox site shows the directions are for 95-97 lt1? Is this possible for a 94? I just replaced my upper radiator hose and there is a smaller hose that attaches to the throttle body. Any info on either of these questions would be great. Thanks!

1. unless your friend is giving you the programmer then dont waste your time. the only useful thing you can do with it on an m6 is make your fans come on sooner and i think recalibrate the speedo for different wheel/gears.
2. yes very possible
3. get the 95+ radiator hose, i have heard of people jamming old spark plugs in the little hose and clamping it off but that looks retarded.

So, the 95+ hose doesnt have the extra hose coming out of it? Where does the coolant come out of the throttle body to recirculate back into the cooling system? I guess I would only have to block off those two hoses and I should be good, right?

I guess I'll pass on the hypertech as well. I was hoping for a cheaper way to do a little tuning. Thanks

I've seen dyno's that showed ~6rwhp difference with just the TB bypass.
Of course thats very little and could be the difference in a few degrees in air temp, engine heat, etc...

If you're in an area where you don't have to worry about really cold conditions, I would do it anyway.

I suggest going to Lowes or Home Depot and piecing together the parts for the bypass yourself, would save you a few bucks. If I remember right you just need a hose barb, foot or so of fuel hose, couple clamps...

You don't even need a barb..a 16" piece of hose works perfect..from the Metal Line straight to the Radiator, and clamp it with one of the stock clamps..then toss the junk.

There ya go OP, at $.50 - $1.00 per foot for the fuel hose your good to go for under $1.50. I bought the bypass kit on ebay way back when for $10 or so, waste!
