So some of you might remember this problem:

But I finally got a chance to get the clutch out, and I think the DISC might have been put on backwards:

"Most clutch discs mount with the hub side (the side with the retainer and hub assembly facing outward) towards the transmission. A few cases install the discs in the opposite direction. This includes 1993-97 F-Bodies". - From the Ram directions.
I think mine is on backwards.

My best guess (I'm not familiar with your issues, but I'll guess it's not releasing) is the fork was mis-aligned. If that's the case you need to pay careful attention to the pressure plate now as it may have bent some of the "fingers" causing it to not release....in which case you'll need a new pressure plate.....

I think the pic is correct. Look at the disk, there is a side that clearly protrudes outward. The side goes towards the front or into the flywheel.
Once you hold the pressure plate, disk and tool up to the flywheel and your ready to bolt it on, there should be around a 1/4" clearance between the flywheel and the pressure plate that will obviously draw up tight once you start torquing the 6 bolts down.
Going on memory here. But if the disk is on backwards it will be much harder to get the pressure plate on. In fact I dont think the stock bolts would even be long enough to actually start a thread. The gap before torquing down the bolts will be much greater than 1/4" IIRC.

If you tried to put the disc on backwards..(the hub part that sticks out the most) towards the trans it won't go on unless you use longer pp bolts which right there would be a hint that its wrong. I've read countless material and talked to a few people that all say the disc only goes on one way but they aren't right...the lt1 is one exception.

And just for the record, I am using longer pressure plate bolts, but NOT because the plate was on backwards. I broke a couple of my pressure plate bolts, and direct replacements were expensive. The bolts are nearly identical to stock, just a little longer (but not long enough to be a problem).
