Default nsa roller rockers

i have a set of nsa roller rockers and it has come to my attention that i need push rod guide plates is there any thing i can do to not have to machine on the heads such as pull the stud out thread it for a theaded stud and and take a .25 off the lip

Say what?

Just pull out the old rocker stud, install the guideplate, reinstall the stud. Done. There's no machining necessary. Stock studs are screw-in.

Just make sure you center the guide plate before tightening down the studs.

Yep its that easy I don't know who told you that you need machine work

the guy at sumit told me they were press in studs guess i should have called jegs lol

aluminum heads have thread in studs, iron heads are press fit.

No like we said about just undo the rockers and studs then put the guideplates on and then the studs. There is not machine work that needs to be done

It would help if we knew what heads we're dealing with.

On another Forum, a guy just spent $400 to have his stud bosses machined down.

He'd bought screw-in studs and screwed them in (so apparently his were already tapped). Then saw that he had a rocker arm clearance issue and the guys on that Forum told him he had to have his stud bosses milled down.

So, $400 later . . .

I'm presently trying to find out how all that came about.

When I wanted to install screw-in studs in my early 86 Vette iron heads, I just had the stock press-in studs removed and the bosses tapped while the heads were in the shop for a valve job, new guides, etc.

What am I missing here?

there just stock headed but i for sure just walked out there and unscrewed on of the studs so does this mean i just need to buy the guide plates for a small block chevy the threads are much bigger than the studs tho does that matter

All f-bodies have aluminum heads period. Like everybody has said they are screw in just unscrew them trust me I have pulled mine off plenty

awesome so can any body help me with a part number cause i cant find guideplates that says its for an lt1 just small block chevy and ls am i just pose to buy the ones for a small block chevy
