How did the Powergrip HD look when you pulled it out? That was actualy a clutch on the list.

See, its hard to make a decision based on drivability for me, I'll i've driven are C5's with LS6 clutches. I would really like to buy a clutch once though.

The stage 4 is notchy, but there's always a work around to daily drive. It's not that bad.

It looks fine still had meat on it for some reason it just wouldn't hold the power at all. When my car was just bolt-on it held good

I wanted to go with the ST bur I was being cheap at the time which I regret doing. I have the centerforce DFX. It holds great but I'm getting annoyed with the chatter. It's held great at the track launching at 4500 on spray, even with my stock trans.

That's good to hear. I'm on my second Spec 3, its about the most clutch I would ever use on the street.

I'm over 500whp on the juice & running a Monster stage 4. smooth & engages real well. i've heard alot of hit or miss about spec. a couple of friend had different ones & some where good & some not. all 3's or 4's . one guy replaced a stage 3 plus after 3 months. so it scared me away from the spec product. I didn't want to take any chances.

too bad monster doesn't make an LT1 clutch Anyways, I've had a stock replacement, a ram powergrip hd, and now the spec 5... not one single clutch issue... EVER. The only reason I went with the Spec 5 is I wanted to get away from a sprung hub. the way I see it, less stuff to break and possibly cut off your feet.

It is too bad Monster doesn't make an LTx clutch, they are flagshipping LSx stuff right now and doing a fantastic job at it.

There's always the chance they would fall into what happened with Ram. They made great clutches for LTx yet did not fare all too well with the LSx market.

Why do we need Monster to start making clutches when we have spec, mcleod, and competition clutch. There's only so many combinations of material you can make a clutch out of.

I also have a Spec IV. IMO stay away from the spec III, I had one of the springs in the hub on the disk blow out and get stuck in my pressure plate. Go for the solid hub Spec IV, clutch takes a ton of abuse!

Spec IV is also a solid hub clutch, with excellent street manners once broken in

Monster claims that they will have a LTx clutch out soon. I call them every couple of months or so for an update. They are currently tweaking the PP and trying to come up with a plan of record design that they are happy with. Seeing how many positive reviews and lack of negative ones there are on their products from the LSx guys, I am looking forward to maybe getting one.

My Spec 3+ just does not have the grip it used (10K miles) but is streetable once you slightly adjust your take off. It is a fast clutch and drives good with very little chatter but now wont grab 3rd and barely grabs 2nd gears. When it was new, it would easily make a 10 bolt instant carnage with a dump. The disk has definitely worn away a lot of my PP and flywheel. Hopefully it will hang on a little longer.

I would like a ST but I cant justify the cost.

Well you already bought a set up so its a moot point but the ST drive awesome on the street. I would let you drive my car at the Shootout but thats pretty far out at this point if you need something now..

Guess I will probably be upgrading to a ST soon. My SPEC-3 has held up well to over 625HP but I don't think it's going to like the new setup. Mike, do you still have the McLeod part numbers for what you got?
