Default Cam question?

I'm looking at buying a cam for my 93Z28, 6spd, just over 75k miles. I have 4:10s that will be going in the rear at the same time that I put my LPP LTs in. The A.I.R and EGR will be gone also. Otherwise the car is completely stock. I want a decent sized cam but I'm not sure which one to go with.
I'll probably call Lloyd Elliot in a few days but I was just wondering what you guys might recommend for my car just from you knowledge or personal experiences. Also, I'm not looking to do anything as far as the heads go right away.

To get the most out of any cam you are going to want to get head work done to match. That being said just talk to Lloyd tell him your goals for the car and he will steer you to the right cam. An other place to talk to is AI

Not really. Plenty of grinds work quite well with the stock heads, including the CC503 (which in this case I'd recommend). Portwork is only necessary when the cam specs outperform what the stock heads can handle.

By no means is this a track car. Just want something to "wake it up" a little bit. I am not worried about streetability as the car only sees the streets/track on the weekends once or twice a month.

If its a street car pick something that will increase dcr, have enough lift for the future if you port the heads, and has solid low - mid range.

IE not a giant donkey dick cam. The lunati 219/227 is good or XFI 268 for off the shelf grinds. Custom is always best if you can

Glad to see someone else recommending that lunati cam (pn: 60121) I absolutely love that cam, I liked it so much on stock cubes that I decided to keep it in the stroker

I don't know the details of your 383, but have you done the calculations to ensure that cam isn't going to jack your DCR too high on the 383? If not, you may be finding yourself retarding your ignition timing excessively having to run race fuel to keep detonation in check.

I'm guessing here, but I'm thinking you would probably need to install this cam with 2-4 degrees LESS advance than the 6 already ground in to properly run it on a 383.

Of those, what would you pick from AI cam selection to be comparable? I like the fact they sell the whole kit.

Not to threadjack but no I kept my SCR relatively low because of the small cam to keep my DCR down to a pump gas friendly level

I already knew about this and it is very helpful, but I was just wanting to know what other people thought about it and what they were running

There are alot of good off the shelf cams I like the cc503 or you could look for something in that range.

When I asked this question I got alot of votes for the CC503, great for stock headed lt1's. If your willing to sacrifice some reliability and spin it higher I have heard people with stock heads making good power with th cc306, as high as 370 rwhp. When you get springs i would NOT recommend patriot. They have been screwing people with their kit for our engines (incorrect valve seals). I went with the 503. Hopefully it will be running in a couple weeks.

for stock heads a custom cam isn't really necessary, there are tons of grinds out there that can do the job. cc503 gets my vote, had one in my car with stock heads and def suprised alot of people for being cam only

Remember, once you wake it up a "little bit" you will soon be wanting to wake it up more cause its no longer as fun. I don't even find my car anything spectacular now because I am so use to it. Granted my car is nothing godly lol.

Most people recommend cc503 for stock heads.

I have the next size up 60122 seems nice to me but its my first cammed car so I have nothing to compare it with. I am glad it seems the lunati 601xx line picking up in our cars, when I tried to research mine a year or two ago, there was absolutely nothing on this cam, no youtube vids in lt1's or anything only topics google found was mine haha.
