Default what would you guys do?

Hey guys my bad luck with car never ends. After a year and 2 month I got the car running right. Anyways I put some in town miles on it and started driving it back to college. Well after 137 miles my rebuilt engine blew up. It now has a very loud rod knock. I was not driving it hard but rather cursing on the highway. Now my problem is that I have dumped all my money in this car and dont have any money to fix it. So I am going to contact the machine shop that built the motor. That might get somewhere but since it was rebuilt last summer I doubt he is going to do anything. So should I take out a loan and buy another car to make a dd and then start saving to fix this car. Or should I take out a loan and try to fix the firebird. I am sorta needing a good daily since I am in college and work 20mins away. So what would you guys do?

Up to you man. Sounds like you need a new shop though if you have already had problems with the rebuild so shortly after it is done

Yeah I am probably going with a new dd. Needing a truck anyways. I have been working on this car and its been nothing but major problems since last summer. I have no enthusiasm to work on her since everything I fix something else breaks. As for the shop I was recommend to it by a guy who was running an 800hp turbo camaro. I will be taking to a shop where my scca buddies go. I think she is going to sit for at least a year before I tear her apart for the 8th or 9th time. Sucks is I had a ws6 hood and box ready to go on in a month plus some other goodies.

What other goodies do you have on you?

And yeah man that sucks. I'm a freshman in college and thankfully the only major headaches with my car is that something is squeaking ridiculously loud. Thinking of doing an AC delete pulley as I think it is coming from there.

Despite spending a lot more money than I thought I would doing minor bolt-on's, this car has still brought me a lot of joy. First car I ever had that had a real sense of *****. After college I hope to get myself into a nice cruiser like a lightly used C6 or a new Camaro SS or something of that sort. We'll see how things pan out

Best of luck with your new purchase and with the build on the current toy in the garage

It has some ls1 front brakes. Was going to get some shocks, lowering springs, panhard bar and some lower control arms. But who knows. Sent some emails about some lt1s for sale. Might buy another engine and swap the cam and heads. Plus the brand new spec stage 3 that has about 80 miles on it....

Yeah I would try to start out with a different motor and maybe part out your current one

Maybe a fresh block? Not sure when you will have more money to fix the car.

A stock rebuild with a LT4 hot cam would be cheap though

Yeah emailing about some engines that are local. Dad looks like he is going to help get this running. Cheaper to fix what we got than to buy another car.
