nah, I'm just givin ya sum crap about how you guys spell sum stuff up there...

Not knowing stuff about cars is perfectly okay, everybody's gotta learn, but it's irritating when people talk about stuff like they know about it when they don't (ie like saying your cam is "two sizes bigger than stock")...

You probably know more than half the guys ya see at the track honestly

Nah, the guys at the track are pretty good usually, it's their girlfriends that really **** me off. They get all pissy that I'm there talking cars with their men, then they try to act like hot **** and talk cars with the boys. It's really funny what comes out of some of these bimbo's mouths. One chick was going off about her Prelude, and how fast it was (funny, I don't remember ever seeing her race... haha), and I asked her something about her engine, and her whole face just went blank. God I hate bimbos.

HAHA! Still, I don't think asking what cam they're running, or how big a shot of nitrous they're pushing, equates to me trying to steal them away!

lol if someone asks me what size my cam is randomly ill give them variable answers. Sometimes ill tell them its a tiny cam and the car barely gets out of its own way. If I am about to race, I just tell them its stock. Granted at the track the times give it away, but normal driving people will assume your car is some gift from god if it has a cam in it.

Ok, so, the parts supplier that we use is having a huge sale, and I can get a Scat crank (cast, not forged) for $201.99, or their forged crank for about $600-$700. The guy building my engine thinks the cast one should be fine for up to a 150 shot of nitrous, but he said its not going to "last forever". Is it worth it to spend the extra $500 for the forged one?

no its not. YOu dont need a forged crank to go fast. It will last just as long as the forged unless you spray the hell out of it or put a blower to it. As long as you stay under 7000 rpms your fine. Thats a rough guess on rpm, good rods and pistons is a better investment

What counts as "spraying the hell out of it"? I want to eventually throw a 150 shot at it, is that going to be too much?

over 150 i would go forged. its more in the tune and no detonation to make it live.

Like he said, RPM's will kill an engine faster than HP...and I'd think since the factory cranks can handle a 150 shot that the scat cranks shouldn't have a problem...

Ok, so I have a dumb newbie question. Do I order the crank for a 1 piece rear seal, or 2 piece rear seal? I've never taken one of these engines apart before!

Thanks! Done and done. Just ordered a forged 383 Scat crank. I figure this way, I won't have to upgrade for a long time, and the extra bit of money is worth the peace of mind. Ended up getting a decent deal on it. $550 plus whatever taxes, and it was in stock at the warehouse, so no shipping fees, and it'll be at the parts store tomorrow. SWEET! I'm a happy girl right now

What's wrong with the scat piece?
