Default Help with choosing a stall...

I am in the process of doing a CC503 cam swap.

I need a stall converter and have an idea of how they work and why I need one, but I have no idea on how to choose what brand and where to get one.

Can anyone help me out?

I'd like to keep it around a 3000 rpm stall to keep it streetable. I will be driving the car alot, including 80 miles to the nearest track.

Thanks
Ben

I've got a monster transmission 3200 stall brand new off ebay for cheap a while back. I've also got the CC503 and it works perfect with a 3200 stall. It's defiantly streetable. Especially after you get your car tuned for the stall and cam.

The one thing that should be done right with a car is definetly selecting a high quality converter. Check out this thread real quick and you will see why:

https://ls1tech.com/forums/automatic...education.html

Yank, Circle D, FTI, Precision Industries (Vig) and Edge has proven themselves over and over on this forum and in real life. I am sure there are others that I am forgetting but you get the idea.

I have ran two Yanks and have been extremely pleased. They are probaly one of the more or maybe the most popular converter company on here for f-body's. With that said I wouldn't hesitate to run one from any of the other companies mentioned above.

Back when I had the cc503 I ran the Yank SS3600. It was super streetable, alot of fun, and performed very well at the track.

I suggest calling up a couple companies, tell them your setup and goals and see what they recommend to you.

Call greg at fti... His stalls seem to be very efficient and do not eat up alot of power on the big end to get the car out of the hole! I have seen cars pick up 2mph trap from swapping lets say a vig or yank to a fti of the same stall rating, no joke!! Do some research you will see. I bought a fti 3800 specd for nitrous, but Im saving up the coin to build the tranny before on installing it.

I've looked into yank before and read nothing but good things about them. If i was to buy a converter from Yank, where is the best place to buy one from? Is the only option to buy it from them? The only reason I ask is because, for example, their SS3600 is 725 bucks on their site. I'm sure its a great converter, but that still is alot of money, any discounts i can find would be highly helpful.

Look into www.Transmission-Specialties.com

Edit: Not sure if they have 4L60E converters. I'm sure they do though. I run one in my TH350 and am a VERY satisfied customer.

I bought my Yank SS3600 from Speed Inc. Fast shipping and excellent customer service.

Like stated above, I would highly recommend using the better quality converters. At the end of the day when it comes to stalls, you really DO GET WHAT YOU PAID FOR.

Good luck!
