Fans on high all the time?

Car is a 1995 Pontiac Firebird. I have an SES light which I'm assuming is due to the EGR being deleted. The fans run on high as soon as I turn the car on. Is this due to the SES light?

This motor was originally in my 96 Trans Am which was OBD II. I never remember having this issue and I always had an SES light due to the EGR and rear o2's being disabled.

Is this an OBD I only issue that the fans turn on high when there's an SES light or am I crazy and just never noticed the fans always being on in the 96?

What I had in the 96 is exactly what I have in the 95. I was in a wreck and took the complete drivetrain and swapped it into a 95, using a 95 PCM and wiring harness.

The reason why I know the fans were not on constantly in the 96 is because the car would consistently run between 210 and 230 degrees, which is normal lt1 operating temp. However, in the 95, the car never goes about 180-190 degrees.

It sounds like the same prob I had. I had an SES light and my fans were running on high. After everything I had tryed I took it in to the shop. They were able to find it was a broken wire that caused the SES light and the fans never to go into low speed. Try looking for a broken wire and see what you find. I hope this helps ya out
