Default LT1 SS Spoiler Question

Found one of these for sale that I would like to go look at. I was wondering how can I tell if it was OEM or aftermarket? Are the original ones metal and the repro ones fiberglass or something? Or any markings on it? Thanks.

If it's aftermarket it will more then likely be Fiberglass. The one I had on my past LTx was from SLP and was fiberglass.

So even the original ones are fiberglass? I'm just looking for a way that I can differentiate from a repro.

I don't know if this applies to LT1 SS spoilers but on the LS1 SS spoiler the OEM spoiler is two pieces. You can see a line on the lip where the 2 pieces come together. Aftermarket fiberglass spoilers are one piece.

Thanks for the info.

If anyone could confirm the above comment or has an additional information, it would be greatly appreciated.

the easiest way to confirm it (which I actually did) is to go on ebay and search "1997 SS Camaro" and look at the rear end pictures, you can see that it is two pieces. Do the same for the 98-02 SS and the 98-02 SS aftermarket spoiler. You might even be able to find some 96-97 style aftermarket spoilers using google to see the difference designs.

I'm looking for a SS hood (OEM) without alot of luck, but found someone with a hood and spoiler that wants to sell together from a red '96 SS. I don't need the spoiler, so if this works out, I may have it available soon. Can ya'll give me some idea what it's worth so I can know how to figure on what to pay for it and the hood??

I bought one off SLP when they were selling them for 129.99 plus a ton of shipping cost when they were trying to get rid of them in 07. There is nothing you need to swap them over they use the same light and are really two pieces put together. Its was really light fiberglass and just had a kind of gelcoat on it.

Forgive the first picture it was in the bricks in Cherry Point.

The only decent picture I have that you can see the 2 piece line and yea I know the tail pipes are hideous.

Haha if you got a 98-02 SS spoiler I would gladly take it off your hands for you. I like the LS1 spoiler over the lt1 spoiler

I believe I meant to say metal....there is no difference though.

And I had no idea this thread was getting so many replies since it was moved. I should be picking it up today hopefully. Thanks everybody.

Toronto: I already had that second picture saved to my computer (ours cars are same color) :p

Two more quick questions: About how much should I expect to pay to get it painted? Could you use some sort of filler to smooth that line before painting or is that just stupid?
