Question Questions about oil pressure gauge.

I've heard the stock oil pressure gauge isn't very accurate and I want to install a mechanical gauge. I've done some searching and I still have a couple of questions.

1. Do you just hook up the gauge fitting in the plug above the filter?
2. Is this the best place to put it?
3. Is oil going to come pouring out?
4. Any advice since I've never done this before?
5. Can you recommend a good gauge?

I don't really plan on running this long term. I just want to hook it up and check and see how accurate the stock gauge is.
This is on a 97 Z28.

1. Yes
2. Yes
3. A little
4. Seal the threads of whatever fitting you put in there.
5. Any will do to check the stock gauge.

The stock gauge may not be very accurate, but it's a good general indicator.

Thank you for the information. What should I seal it with? I'm planning on putting it on and take it right back off after doing some checking. I've never done any of this before.

Either teflon tape or pipe thread sealer. I'd recommend the pipe thread sealer if you don't know how to wrap teflon tape. You can get either from Lowes, Home Depot, any hardware store etc.
