Default can you put the green on the negative side of the coil?

I gotta 95 z28 and am trying to figure out where to tap off to get to my signal. Ive grown up with racecars and we always just tap off the negative side of the coil but im reading alot of other things on here. Lemme know what you think.

Thanks

If I were to guess I'd say it was for RPM. If that's the case there is a specific wire off the PCM you can easily access to do this. Just can't remember which harness or what color wire. Do a search. There should be something around this site.
