Figuring out liters on a stroker

How do you figure out how many liters a motor will be? We're in the middle of building a 383 stroker for my car. I was told you need to know piston width, rod length, stroke, etc... but it's all quite confusing to me. Hopefully someone on here can help me out. Its not really a "need to know" thing, just more of a curiousity!
