How do you figure out how many liters a motor will be? We're in the middle of building a 383 stroker for my car. I was told you need to know piston width, rod length, stroke, etc... but it's all quite confusing to me. Hopefully someone on here can help me out. Its not really a "need to know" thing, just more of a curiousity! Thanks

The engine is an 383 LT1, 40 over, 6" rod

So your 383 is actually a 385.

The formula is simple. V= 8 x (Pi x R^2 x H)

R = radius (in your case, 4.04"/2).
H = stroke length

 

Why is it a 385 instead of a 383? The bore?

 

A 383 uses a 4.030" bore. A 4.040" is a 385, so yep!

 

Neat. Now how many liters would that be?

 

6.30 liters.
