what to expect to pay for an lt1 SS?
what to expect to pay for an lt1 SS? what would you guys pay for a 96 SS #2345 to be exact 59,xxx miles? Found this but the price seems a little much or is this what there going for http://stlouis.craigslist.org/cto/1711338308.html
it all depends i seen ones going for lower than that and they were heavily modded.
there are less 96-97 ss made compared to 98-02 ls1 which makes them more rare but for 11,000 you can get a nice ls1 ss . you have to really want a lt1 ss to pay over 10 grand for one

$11k? No way...I would pay $6.5k-$7k at most. I bought my car 10 years ago with the same amount of miles for $7k. The fact that it's an SS doesn't bring the value up THAT much.
Fact is, it's still a 14 year old car with 14 year old problems, regardless of what the badge on the bumper says. Way overpriced.
Reminds me of a 97 Firehawk around my area that's been for sale for 6 years with an asking price of $22k.

clean car but with aftermarket exhaust and rims and the back is painted black i would not pay 11,000.00 but it 20 years the lt1 ss and ws6 are gonna be rare... they are nice cars and just ask your self how many lt1 SS have you seen on the road in your life; there are less than 6,000 96-97 ss still around... So for the right price I would pick it up....

if the guy does get around 10 thousand for that ss it would have to be from someone that really wants a red t top lt1 ss with low mileage. other than that it will be for sale for a long time until he goes into 7 grand price range or lower
I bought mine March 26th and got it for considerably less than that, but with almost full bolt-ons and 81K miles. Silver, T-top, M6. I wasn't shopping for a car at all, but couldn't pass it up.
Also, FWIW, the previous owner sold it because he had bought a 98 SS, also silver, but with A4 and 40K miles. He says he already misses the LT1 car alot and wishes he had sold the LS1. Maybe it's the T56 he misses though?

I had my car appraised less than a year ago for $12,000. I have a lot less miles and the only thing that was marked less than excellent was the tires. They are still the orginal Firestone Firehawk tires. That seems a little high.
IMO, the low-end torque of the LT1 makes them more fun. I sold mine for my Trans Am. And when the Trans Am was just a bolt-on LS1, it wasn't as much fun as my bolt-on LT1. I always missed it. So, I bought it back earlier this week. lol
yea just what i was thinking, i thought he was asking to much. was just curious if i was correct. its a nice looking car but ill never make the switch back to an lt1 after having my ls1.
haha Yeah. I love the hell out of my 6.0 swapped Trans Am, but my bolt-on LT1 Camaro will still put a smile on my face driving it and make me a happy man. My Camaro's the cruiser, and the Trans Am is the bruiser. I drive the Camaro when I want to go have a good time and mess around a little. And I drive the Trans Am when I want to put the hurtin on someone. lol.
As previously stated the 96 SS is the first one ever made and there were only about 1400 made, so as an investment it will be worth more than any LS1 powered car or heavily modded LT1 car. Also take into consideration the low mileage for the car's age and it's worth it if you're interested in making money by garaging it and watching the value increase. Now if you're looking for a car to mod or race then yes a heavily modded LT1 or an LS1 car would make more sense, I guess it all comes down to want you're looking for from the money spent.
