Default GEAR HELP!?!?!? 2.73 to 3.73???

So my rear end is at a local shop to put my 3.73 gears in and he got it all put together and he says there is way to much backlash? He says i need a diff rear end or carrier to fit the gears? Also i looked something up online about a spacer that will make the gear fit in my 2.73 rear end? Im just looking for an answer? Thanks in advance for any help.

Thanks,
Nick

You probably got a 2 series carriers (2.73 original). You need a gear set for a 2 series carrier or a 3 series carrier to install a 3 series carrier gear set.

Your 3.73 is for wich carrier...

You probably got the wrong gears for your carrier. My car has 2.73's and when i was looking at 3.73's you gotta get the right gears for your series carrier. I think yours is a series 2 and you probably got series 3 gears

I'm not sure what all you have to do to make the series 3 fit in your diff, might slip right in there. If it wasnt a private sale i would say just take them back and ask for the other series ones

It would be easier to get a 3:73 for 2 series carrier, yes they do make them. but yes you could get a 3 series carrier (different rear end) and it will work

you generally want to replace the bearings anyway when you do a gear swap if they are really old.

summit sells a kit that has everything like that.

Most shops don't take used junk to put together. Not surprising they didn't notice it lol the had them in. Id just buy a new set of gears for a 2 carrier and be done
