Benefits of an electric pump include freeing up horsepower (up to 9HP dyno proven), being able to run a double roller timing chain, and you can run the pump with the engine off to speed up cooling, which is great for use in the pits. I also noticed slightly quicker revs when I installed mine.

If I'm reading everyone's posts correctly.....I can run a double roller timing set or other timing sets as used on GEN 1 small blocks equipped with factory hydraulic roller camshafts instead of buying one that is LT1 specific?

Hey:
I just had my electric pump die after 65,000 miles, it was 8 or 9 yrs old I think. and it was one the CSR demo models, so who knows how much use it had before I got it. Another benefit is how easy and fast you can replace it with minimal mess. You could easily do this on the road just keep a spare with you on real long trips, they don't take up much room and way cheaper and less inconvient than being towed to a garage. Just my two cents, they don't seem to have any down size other than initial cost and installation and many good benefits.
