Converter Doesn't Stall Like It Should
I built a helluva an LT1 and tried two converters out thus far. First was a TCI 3k from summit and the second is an Edge 3600.
When the TCI was in there it would only stall to like 1800 or so. So I sold it and spent the money for a better converter. The guy who bought it, stalled it to 3000.
The Edge I have now stalls to around 1800-2000 rpm also. So what's the deal?
I had transmission problems awhile back. Had one rebuilt with some aftermarket goodies. The parts were inspected recently and reused in another build. The transmission man said it looked good.
So what's the deal here?
Tranny bad? Slipping or something? Not allowing the converter to stall?
What about the brakes on the car? Will the converter stall with bad brakes allowing it to push through the brakes? My brakes are very sucky...
Are you flashing it or foot breaking? If you are just foot breaking I would still expect it to stall around 2500. Have you called edge and told them what's going on?
I tried foot braking, but like I said it goes to about 1800 and starts pushing through the brakes. I actually sent it back to Edge and talked the man himself as he took it apart. Said it looked good. While it was there I had it set up for nitrous. When I race it I just flash the converter and I too figured I would have gotten a 2500 stall out of it.
Ironoutlaw, he said sucky not stuck.

Studying my data log from last season, I think the car flashed to around 2500. Its hard to tell and I'm not sure if I'm reading the data correctly.
