Question How much strain on the engine by running the AC in 100+ weather?

This camaro is the first car I own with working AC as my mustang would totally and instantly go to like 230* when the AC was fired up so I was always paranoid, the camaro has a 160 stat with the fans coming on early too, it was 90+ today and the car never got warmer than like 175* if it stays around 200* is it bad to run the AC? does it put alot of load on the motor? Sorry it might be a dumb question but I really don't know. Would you guys run AC in 110 degree weather?

You will be fine and the engine/car is designed to run the a/c in any temp. People do it all the time in the soutwest states.

This happent 2 day ago in front of my shop, this douchebag idle his car with ac on from 9am to 4 pm, find out he got into a fight with his gf and she work next door to me. its 09 infinity sedam, i think this actually damage the car, but if you drive and ac same time, its normal, not idle for hours ,

Pretty sure that running the AC will kick on a cooling fan, which in turn will keep your car running cooler if you get in to stop'n'go traffic. You'll be fine.

The a/c is made for use in hot weather. Why wouldn't you use it? I can leave my car idling in 100°+ weather and the fans keep it cool. The high speed fans will kick on when needed and even go back off, because it can cool it back down that efficiently.

95+ degrees with 95+ humidity is normal summer weather here. When I am down at the beach it finally gets to the point where I have to put the top up and run the ac. It's not a problem, even in stop-and-go traffic.

Yeah right out of the factory the original fans don't even kick in until like 230-240 degrees.

I drove around for the first 5 years of my driving life without a/c. Several Years have passed now and I won't even get in a car without air. Call me whatever you want it just gets to hot around here to not have it especially in a all black camaro with a dark interior

Shift faster. Mine drops quick with the air on, but nothing that causes any smoothness issues, just have to be ready for it.

On my 1995 Buick Roadmaster, when the hurricane hit Houston I actually slept in the backseat of my car for 5 hours a night, 4 nights in a row when power was out and the temperature was close to 90 degrees at night. I didn't care if the damn engine blew up or whatever, it was just too hot.

So I idled the car and slept in the backseat with the A/C set for about 68 degrees. I even played the radio softly, and it was quite nice. i woke up about 3 hours into it and the windows in the front had nearly frosted up but the floorboard was so hot that I couldn't put my bare feet on the carpet. Buick never missed a beat. What an amazing car.

So yes, I'd say that you'll be fine.
