Default Scratched side windows, can I remove this safely?

Can I remove these dried and hardened cushions (for lack of a name), because they have my windows all scratched?

If I remove them, what happens? Are they needed to keep the window in its track?

I'm talking about the one on the outside of the window, but actually both of those are hardened.

When the felt part gets worn out the metal scratches the window and I would imagine they are there to keep the window aligned so I would suggest replacing your worn out ones with a new set. I did so about 4 or 5 years ago and it solved that issue for me.

And as far as fixing the window? Is there any way to get those scratches out?

That I do not know but would like to find out. I may stop over at a local glass place and see what they say because my driver side is just starting to get scratched.

Common fbody issue, pads are available thru GM, P/N 10257988 (4ea) about $6 each, depending on how deep the scratches are will determine if they can be polished out but highly unlikely if their deep, cheaper to just find another glass in a salvage yard, IMHO.
I keep spares on hand to avoid waisting my $100 window tint job and door glass.

Mo info here too https://ls1tech.com/forums/paint-bod...scratches.html

Eastwood Company makes a glass polishing kit but I don't think it's made for removing "Heavy" scratches, might be worth looking into though...

Think they would have smooth rubber ends or something besides felt that falls off..and why the hell would the guide under the felt be rough! I found this out after I got my tint done, put a nice tear into it.
