Hey guys, I had it dynoed once at an open house at TTPerfomance here in North NJ 2 years ago. It was still on a mail order tune from PCM4LESS from 6 years ago, and had the stock intake at the time of ordering the tune. It was running horribly rich, around 11.0 AFR, and TOO much timing. It made 420 RWHP and 400 RWTQ with the single plane. I have an Ed Wright tune in the car now and it feels MUCH better. I need to have it tuned on the dyno, would like to see 450+, which I dont think will be a problem. I think peak HP was at 62 or 6300. Not bad considering I built the motor in 03. Anything else you wanna know, just ask

Map sensor is easy, I took a little piece of aluminum flatbar, drilled 3 holes in it, 2 for the sensor one for the right rear carb flange bolt. Mounted it and ran a vacuum hose to it.

So what are the benefits of running a single plane setup like seen in this thread? What other mods should be considered? I have a head and cam car, would it be worth converting to a single plane intake? If so, what would be the best intake to use?

With the correct setup, correct intake porting and cam, 20-30hp over a maxed out stocker.

The build has to start from ground zero IMO with this in mind. Alot of the results that have been posted with this swap were stock intake setups that did this swap and didnt pick up much, most all were unported.

Been too long since I bought it all..........It was all bought brand new initially.

Super Victor#2925, Summit $225 I think

Conversion to EFI, including the elbow that Puck has now by intakeelbows.com$ No idea $450 comes to mind. That included fuel rails.

Monoblade, Formula 383 has it now, Caught it on sale $450

Assorted AN fittings, who knows...$150 easy

I have changed it since the initial deal, sold the elbow and monoblade.

Bought a Holley 4 hole 4150 billet throttlebody for $100 used

needed and IAC $35

Spectre carb hat, Jegs $78 shipped.

45* 4 inch elbow $45 at truck shop

4 inch Maf hose, free from my machinist

Sent the intake to Bret Bauer for porting, including shipping and fitted 1 inch spacer $450

Had a huge K&N already, assorted 4 inch bends left over to get the filter on.

Was it worth it? I can tell you this, I havent run the car yet. Ed Wright has been tuning the car via e mail and datalogs with me reporting a/f ratio.

He is getting closer a/f is 12.8 to 13.1 on his last shot.

It was 95* degrees out, I pulled it into 1st gear rolling 30-35 mph.....put it on the mat and with 325 50 drag radials this turd DESTROYED the tires through 2nd gear and a tad of 3rd. Car has never done that in this kind of heat. DId it on 2 different streets.

To me the single plane was worth it.

It might be cheaper for you to just buy a new single plane with injector bungs already in place than to pay a shop to mount some to an existing carb single plane. It will probably look a lot cleaner as well. The Professional Products Super Hurricane is only $225ish

You need to get a bigger hat on that thing, with as low as yours is you can get a hat like mine on it, granted you will have to notch the rear of the hood and cowl but it will fit. Mine was within an inch of fitting, yours would I am pretty sure. I am a good bit higher than you at the throttlebody.

I had a Suncoast ram air hood on mine that looked JUST like yours see the sig pic.

Did you have to cut any of the metal of the cowl to get the hat to fit? I saw a car today with the edelbrock high flow elbow and all he needed to cut was the plastic. Just curious to see if they are simular in trim needed

Yes I cut to much really, I only needed to cut about an inch of the metal. I retained my wipers.

Stay away from those edelbrock elbows, they suck.

If I do run a single plane I will run the Accufab tb similar to what you have but I need someway to filter the air. I haven't decided which route to take but the more and more I price out alternatives the single plane looks a little better.

Here are some pics of my setup I got the fully ported and modded Victor E intake and fuel rails from RamAir, Accufab 4150 tb, 1" phelnoic spacer from Summit, ZEX perimeter nitrous plate, Aeromotive afpr, braided lines and fittings.

Also if anyone is doing this conversion and wants to use an elbow I have a new Nitrous Outlet 860 elbow for sale.
