Never invest money in the 10 bolt. If you absolutely must, try to find someone selling one local for dirt cheap with 3.42s out of a 6 speed car or someone who swapped gears at one point. Then you can recover some cost by selling your 3.23 rear.....

I sold a rear with 4.10s in it for $200 once.

Honestly though I don't see how this is a question since the costs between the two are so different. It should be spray or Dana 60? :p

I'm not worried about blowing a 3.73 rear in my car, im way up here in co, its hard to make power and I'v seen 3.73's put through alot worse than i could give them. I grew up racing late mods and really know what not to a weak rear. I would slap a girdle cover on it and not worry about it at all.

ok my 2 cents wasting money on a 10 bolt that will just break is not a good idea.
nitrous u can get a used kit for next to nothing i spray 150 at mine with tr6's and have no problem ive went through about 10 bottles so far with out a problem

i might have enough extra stuff to put a full kit together ill see what i have if ur interested

My point is more that if you EVER plan to upgrade, putting money into the 10 bolt is a total waste. Since you have 3.23s already and with your 93 transmission that's more like a 3.54 in 94-02 car - so you're not particularly undergeared.

Spray it, forget the gears.

You people are too mixed up. Everyone wants to say a 10 bolt will break so easy but you're all telling this guy to add more power and do nothing to the rear? That makes no sense. If it matters to any of you my 10 bolt is holding up fine to my setup and it's not a mild setup by any means. Check my sig for most of my mods. I would either get a 12 bolt, 9inch, or really throw some money at the 10 bolt before adding nitrous.

they'r saying that because the higher number in gears, the more torque theyr gunna see and the thinner the teeth are, so its all a domino effect once you go to a steeper gear.

Well, you're also running an A4 for one thing, not an M6. People have broken 10 bolts with street tires and bolt ons before (see my sig)

The other relevant fact is IF the 10 bolt does break, then he should buy a Dana 60 / 12 bolt / 9 inch - which is pretty much what he should have done in the first place (and I told him to do so). At least he won't have spent money on the 10 bolt

I'll probubly still throw the gears in my 10 bolt. I know how to not blow a rear, and i never see a drag strip, never run dr's and don't have the time or money to do a rear swap. it"ll be fine with the 3.73's and a girdle. I know a guy here in town thats putting down 800 rwhp through a m6 on a stock 3.42 rear with a girdle, you just have to be careful.

The 3.73s are thicker than the 4.10s i doubt you will have major issues with them especially if they are installed correctly!
Do it bro....

N20
I love the spray, cannot say enough about it other than it should be as common as a CAI for these cars,100-150 shot,tr-6NGKs with no problems...

Do yourself a favor though, be sure you have a good fuel pump if not get one

and if your car still has the stock 22-lb inj. in there i would upgrade to 28-32lb inj.
get a custom tune preferrably dyno tune...

Have you decided on a N2O system yet?

well I'm in co and already did the 24" injectors when i pulled it out and overhauled it so i should be fine there, and i have a madz28 tune. I think I'll just do the gears and a 100 shot and tr6's and hope all is well. The pump is brand new also so we'll see.
