Default What is this?

We were working on my buddies '93 camaro, and the adapter for this sensor or whatever it is broke off. What is this thing for? The blue plug is what connects to it. It seems to be positioned on the driver side head only between the #2 and #4 piston. Thanks.

coolant temp sensor. New one will run fifteen bucks. Good luck getting it out.

Getting it out shouldn't be a problem. Just use the box end of the wrench or a socket so you don't round it off.

Unless different for '93, there are two temp sensors and both have different part numbers. The one in the head is for the temp gauge only. The one located in the water pump is for the PCM. I've had part stores give me the wrong one. Make sure the part number is the same.
