Exhaust setup, bullet mufflers straight off of the collectors. What clamps?
So I'm getting the ole bird back in a few weeks (been outta town) and she needs exhaust for me to even try to get her inspected. Out in the boondocks where my Dad lives just so long as you have mufflers you can get a tag so I'm wanting to run some bullet mufflers right off of the header collectors.
This isn't my daily and I will only really use it at the track and for Sat night cruises so noise isn't the main concern, I don't wanna get pulled over all the time but loud WOT would be awesome. I'm thinking of picking up either 2 Spiralflows or 2 Dynomax bullets and was wondering what people would use to couple these to the collectors. I don't want to weld them on there b/c it's a PITA when I want to work on something that requires the headers to come off. Ideas?

U-bolt clamps seal well but make disassembly a PITA.
Band clamps do not seal well but do make disassembly easy.
The best clamp hands down period. They seal tight and dont indent the pipes.
Accuseal clamps.

I haven't thought about using an extension but I will have turndowns b/c otherwise it will just be too loud off idle and I don't wanna get pulled over for driving slowly. Any reason to use extensions?
BTW I have Hooker ceramic coated LT's

I'm sure it was my fault but I personally do not use those clamps anymore

Only tighten them just enough to make a good seal and make damn sure you have some slices on the top and bottom of the female pipe so it can "conform".
If the clamps are overtightened, the threads will get damaged on the bolt and it will jam up permanently. At that point you force the stud to break with some muscle and the clamp falls off.
The beauty is they will not damage the pipes and the pipes will easily separate.
The last time I pulled my old Borla catback off to sell, it took hours to separate two pipes due to the crease that was made by the u-bolts. I used heat, PB blaster and my wifes help to pull them apart. We looked like two monkeys trying to bang open a coconut with a rock and I am sure the neighbors were laughing themselves to death. After all that ****, never again. Now a worst, I waste a clamp.

Yea I'd like something that doesn't bend the pipe b/c that's a PITA. Would you guys recommend an extension? I'm thinking two 3" bullets about 18" long with turndowns and maybe some extensions if that will help with the clamps.

Yea I'd thought about that. My first inclination was to get whatever was cheapest b/c I didn't care about having it all that quiet, but now I may be leaning more towards an ORY setup just for noise violations. ORY's are fairly expensive compared to dumped bullets tho.

I had just that^^^^ and it was weak sounding IMO (well at least compaired with my old TDs) So I picked up a 3"cut out and added after the y-pipe b4 the bullet and it sounds much better. I was thinking about going straight bullets of the collector but wouldnt the DS sit funny or really not fit with the header angle???
