I think the comps were about the same as they are now. oh well.. Yeah, $40 does sound a little better if your not thinking about guideplates anytime soon.

The $40 pushrods are hardened and can be used with guideplates. Ran those same pushrods for 6 years with GM guideplates.

from what I understand if you intend on replacing your current lifters with ls7 lifters you are going to need a slightly shorter pushrod anyhow so I would just go ahead and order a checking pushrod when you order the lifters

The early batch of LS7s had a shallower cup (resulting in the shorter pushrod), not so much the new batch. I guarantee you the dealer doesn't check pushrod length when changing lifters.

I haven't seen or installed any of the ls7 lifters but have been researching replacement lifters and the cup height differences seemed to come up frequently so I figured I would at least bring it up. At a minimum I would personally install the lifters and install one of his pushrods that he has on the car now just the check the sweep pattern and if it checks out fine order the same length but if not obviously adjust accordingly. And as for the dealership I am sure you are 110% correct but by the same token the dealership doesn't do alot of the things that a performance minded individual would. They might wrench on corvettes but they also work on lumina minivans

back off the setscrew before you set your valve lash/preload, then once you have the adjustment set hold the rocker nut and tighten the setscrew.

Add your preload minus 1/16th of a turn, then tighten down the set-screw. Then, turn the poly-lock AND the set screw together the last 1/16th of a turn. Many times tightening the set screw alone is not enough. I've never had a rocker come loose with this method.

Wonder if the trunions are 180-degrees out?

Cheap hardened pushrods aren't nearly as stiff as chromemoly pushrods.

Right, but that's not always a bad thing. For what the OP needs, I think the 7808s work just fine if he's on a budget.
