Default Help me to see the negative.

I was wondering if anyone knows where I might be able to find a schematic that shows where all my grounds go on the engine side of things. I am finishing up a rebuild and want to be doubly sure I don't miss any. This is on a '97 T/A. Thanks.

A Haynes manual should have everything you need. Shoebox may have schematics on his page. Not sure:

i believe there are only 3 grounds in the engine bay. 2 are on the body wiring harness and one on the engine wiring harness. one body wiring harness connects on the passenger side i believe up by the fan shroud the other body harness and engine harness connect on the driver side frame up by the abs controller.

ill take some pics today while im up at the garage ill post them tonight.

Grounds are:
engine harness above starter on the engine block
engine harness at coil stud (2)
braided ground strap at coil stud to frame rail behind cruise module
battery cable ground to RH motor mount

the negative battery cable goes to the engine mount on the passenger side and the ground strap on the drivers side to the coil. but there can never be enough grounds. i have 2 huge grounding straps coming from my shock towers to my engine. one at the alt bracket and the other to the coil

I am still cutting my teeth on this modern hot rodding world. On my old Pontiac I had one ground from the battery to the block, and another from the block to the frame. I remember pulling the starter off the LT1, and finding wires on the motor mount, and thinking to my self "really? this is a bit much". I bet these cars have about 300lbs of wiring. Its getting to the point one would have to be a pretty skilled electrician just to just to change the starter out. No wonder new cars weigh more then the station wagons of the seventies. (rant over)

But then again, that old Pontiac couldn't get 23mpg with a 4.10 gear either.
