Cool I was just researching this again today

I am looking for something similar to the photos attached. I would like to have an air dam set up and am thinking I will have to make a home made jobby. ( hence the reaching out to avoid that if possible ).
I want to go straight forward and down, then underneath the radiator, similar to a police set up ( one photo attached / similar set up ). It looks like I will have to go with two 90 degree bends, a couple universal boots ( short and straight ), a stock Impala SS intake adapter ( also short and straight ), and then either modify what is atop the engine ( upside down / cut back off / turn around ) and mount as initial intake, or get a new something or other. I can also get an airbox tube from some suppliers, or modify my current air box, or even go with an Express intake, only down side up. What do all y'all / you'se guuys / yooz guyz think ?

Thanks.

All the elbows are basically a right angle, so I don't see why that matters. And do you really think that a bellows design is better for turbulence than a smooth wall?

Its a nice intake and on any motor I doubt there will be a power difference as compared to the factory stock RIGHT ANGLE 1le boot. If anything he will get more power since its one smooth piece without a bellows style end section.

only thing i see with that would be a possibility of water getting pushed or sucked into the intake..

This topic of "elbow flow" has been beaten to death over and over again...

Glad I never went and bought a new elbow. Cant wait to do my lid swap so I can ditch the elbow and cai, gonna shave 45+ lbs with my new hood and lid mod. Although if I was going to keep it I would go with the half price alternative and do silicone.

Why don't you guys look into my elbow I just designed? I'm going to start listing it on eBay for $10. I call it...

The FLOW-MY-GOD! Or FLOMG for short.

I've done some detailed flow studies, and this elbow is sure to perform just as good as any other elbow out there for half the price!

Shipping is free because it's already in it's own box. No packaging necessary!

Yeah, good point.
Dang it.

I wonder what the internals of that picture has to avoid water entry.
I never really thought much of K & N set ups and didn't really want to gut apart my hood or buy another.
But, gutting apart is cheaper.
The ram air set up I saw for around 360 online today.
Still need a scoop, etc and so on...

Is there an economy set up in the meantime ?

Yeah but the filter will be the big restriction, you would also need a restrictive adapter to clamp it to. I'll just drive with my hood off and no intake ducting, pure ram air.
