Default Convince me, please

So here's the deal. I'm either going to start building a 408 with a Maggie blower (I don't want comments on this as I know what everyone will say....I'm doing it to be different) or sell what I've got for the LTx motor and move on to an LSx with a Maggie. So convince me to keep the LTx. I already know I'll make more hp per $$ with the LSx. I'm really close to getting rid of the blocks, headers and etc that I already have waiting to go in the car, and just save the pennies for the crazy LS motor. I also know the LS will be more street friendly at the power levels I'm looking at.

So fellow LTx owners, keep me here as I do like to be different....

If you start pushing serious HP, I would stick with the iron block. I wouldn't try and push a ton of power out of a aluminum. I have seen a couple local guys build their LSx up and spit rods through the blocks. Just my .2

Since you are wanting to be different do a big block.

Cause LSx cars might as well be the new v6 mustang. Everybody has/wants them.

Plus LSx take work to make the exhaust sound like anything but a hopped up V6.

You can't say you want to be different, then go and do what everybody else wants to do.

Having an LT1 in and of itself makes you stand out. You'll be just another fast lsx. Nobody will care about the poweradder at that point.

You are going maggie because of the whine.

Actually I just like the idea of a maggie. They make great power and take less then traditional setups. Plus the Maggie on an LTx will just be something to see....Too bad I know I need a cowl hood, since the thing sits upwards of 10" off the block.....urgh!!

And on a side note, there is more then just HP perks and advantages the LSx has over the LTx. Don't just look at HP #'s when it comes to buying and or building a motor.

Understood...the entire idea of an LSx motor is very appealing, but I can get some of the perks with the LTx as well (ie. PCM)....biggest thing the LSx has over the LTx is the head flow, which in this case will be very much needed.....

Low RPM torque. That right there is the reason to keep the LT1.

My 224 cam makes up for the LS motors lack of low RPM torque. I would bet you anything I make more then 99.9% of LT's.

I would bet you that 99.9% of statistics are made up on the spot.

Yes, it makes up. Gee whiz. What's that mean? It still lacks...

and no amount of torque will make up for the fact that I still cringe when I hear an LSx. It sounds like a mean paper bag blowing in the wind. I've NEVER heard one that sounds good. They may make a ton of power, but I still don't want to hear em.

I still vote BBC.

LOL...you and this sound BS. Mine sounds sick through the Magnaflow and LT's. It's only going to be sounding better once my new bump stick goes in. Sound wise verse my old 94 Z28 w/ a Magnaflow and LT's is almost unnoticeable. You hate because you probably can't afford one

yeah Rob, but if I do all it is is a swapped car.....I'm tempted to do an LSx sap, but to my trailblazer instead. I think that my wife would appreciate the better gas mileage compared to the I-6 POS that's in it now.....plus I can maggie that and really have a fun tow vehicle

AND a BBC is not an option....I like A/C and creature comforts....lol and I like being able to drive the car hard....around turns and not feel crazy nose heavy among other things

No, yours sounds like ****. It's an opinion, and mine is mine. I think the LS1 exhaust note is on par with the dodge viper... which also sounds awful.

Like i said, OP. Get an LS1. They sound AWESOME and they LOVE dynos!

Oh and the not being able to afford one comment was too cute!

The best way to decipher how one sounds is to hear and experience one as it drives past you...which you seem to have a lot of experience with

I'd rather hear a ford pass me. At least they sound good.

My car looks better too. The bulgy look is meh.

Holy ******* christ, I was wondering when the opti would come out. Good one guys. As always very original. How's your piston slap?
