Default LS1 air lid on LT1

I want to put a ls1 air intake on my 1997 TA with a oem ram air hood. I want to know what air lid tray I should use and where can I find one? Is this a major difficult mod; cant be is hard as the engine and trans swap I am doing now.
Can some one give me some ideas as to where to get the parts I need and what needs to be modified for it to work. thanks

as i said in my pm i tried it out and even with the hood you need to grind a lot off the LS1 radiator support to make it work. its not worth the time and money for the minimal gains over the factory WS6 intake

Yes I have found out how to do it, but I am having a hell of a time finding a ls1 ws6 air box. Or even a lt1 ws6 air box for less than 300

Get the regular LS1 airbox. the WS6 airbox is an inch taller but even the stock base wont fit. the LT1 airboxes go for 200ish on here and ebay. the stock ls1 airboxes go for about 30

I have a stock LS1 airbox from a 2000 Z28 Camaro with the lid and the base if you are really interested in doing the mod.

I was planning on doing this same mod cause I'm dropping an LS1 in December on my 97 Camaro but decided to go for a shaker scoop instead.

This is my plan, I am not in a hurry to do this so I am going to take my time and hope to pick one up cheap. I am going to go with the clear mti lid also, but If I can find a stock lt1 ws6 set up cheap I will do that. I figure ether one will be fine.

Coming from someone that has done it before, I was pretty happy with the end result. It did take a LOT of time getting it to fit correctly and keeping the filter tight against the lid. I felt like it made a big difference from my moroso cai. I dont know about how it will fit on a trans am, but it wasnt really all that hard to do on my camaro, as long as you dont mind doing some cutting if needed. I trimmed quite a bit of metal from in front of the radiator. Definitely worth the "what the heck is that?" factor when you open the hood haha. Good luck, there are a bunch of good write ups out there.

Its not like it takes a ton of time to do the mod, it takes a long time to get it to fit perfectly, seal up so its not getting engine bay hot air, and **** look good.

If you can get your hands on the Lt1 ws6 ram air it will function the same!
There are some that have changed to the lid assembly for a "cleaner look"

The lid will cost alot less than the ws6 set up aswell.......

Now camaros benefit from the lid mod since we were NEVER given the option for good air induction oh i forgot the SS air box thanks GM designer for that winner

I should notice a good increase then. Right now I have a 1996 z28 with the oem ss intake. It is nice and hot directly above my intake and headers; I am sure this TA with the LS1 lid will suck in a lot more cold air.I am tasking the motor and trans from the z28 to go into the TA, this will be the only mod I do to the motor along with getting my headers jet coated.
