Default LT1 in a 98 hoe

Ok so since I finished my 383 build on a junk yard LT1 and got it in the car and running, I now have a stock LT1 that came out of my 97 camaro sitting around. I was sitting there in bed last night scratching my nuts when it hit me. The 98 tahoe has a very similar fuel injection system to the LT1. What if I take the LT1 and build it, then use the 98 tahoe's harness, PCM and distributor on the lt1. I could have the intake modified to take the distributor or I could go with a carb intake and have it modded like the turbo and SC guys do and then use a mono blade straight up and down like the vortec TB. What do you guys think? I know I could spend the money and rebuild the vortec but thats no fun. I don't know if the crank and rods are any good but I am not at that point yet so let me know if you see any flaws in my idea. I like the fact that I can run Higher compression on the lt1 than a 1st gen engine.

Anyone have any thoughts? Good idea or bad? I could always use it in my third gen but it will be a long while before I get that on the road. Penny for your .02 lol

If you can make it happen... I think it would be a cool project!

my .02 cents??? build the Vortec. bone stock they make more horsepower and torque than an LT1. the heads flow really damn well, and can support some pretty good power. i had a 483bhp 377ci sb with Vortec heads that i was gonna stuff into my 3rd gen, but i sold both. i had maybe $3k into the whole engine. making that kind of power out of an LT1 is gonna cost a little more.

a vortec 350 puts out 260hp, compared to the lt1's 275-285, in stock form. Add the ai 200cc or le2 h/c package and your lookin at 480-500bhp on the stock bottom end. But I agree the vortec can be built to make good power and would end up beaing alot easier than swapping a lt1.

Can you elaborate on how you got that kind of power for only 3k? Machine work is machine work especially with any kind of stroke. From What I under stand about the vortech heads is that the valve guides have to be cut down to make any kind of lift witch is more head work over all.
