Stay on topic please! Quit the "my dick is bigger than your's" argument. Although I must admit a 12.2 is horrible for a SR396... My buddy did that with an lt4 hotcammed unbalanced 355 with untouched cylinder heads.... (believe it or not)

OP, Turbo build will be expensive. You need to decide if you want to drop all your money on that. Talk to some engine builders and they will tell you how much it will be and will recommend parts. Then you can post back in here and experienced guys can recommend you where else to go

The shortblock is the cheap part of a turbo setup.

Ok enough BS, back on track

Op you can get that kinda power with a 76mm but its harder, a 88mm is the ticket.

Forged 4340 4 bolt bottom end, ported stock heads and intake and a 88mm should get you there.

Look in the classified section, there is a white 6 speed Trans Am in there that 80% done for CHEEEEAP.

A competent builder would also recommend good top-end, cam setup etc.

When I was considering turbo'in my LT1 I talked to Lloyd Elliott and OutlawZ and they spent a good amount of time pointing me in a good direction and I was only in the talking stages

Thanks Mark I appreciate that.....its been a hard road with this brain damage car trying to street drive the thing.....it opens it up to more possibilities of failure(and it has) than a race fueled trailer queen.

I would do it ALL over again, this car is SO much fun.

Thanks again.

The hot side, cold side, turbo, fuel system, ect add up real quick. Turbo's are very easy on the shortblock as long as its tuned right.

So how many people posting in this thread have actually built an 800+hp Turbo LT1? Just curious.

i have a bigshot kit on it. those pics are probably about 8-10yrs old.. trucks dissasembled getting bodywork and paint. swapping to a stepside bed, lowered it about an 1 1/2 lower in the front and 2 inches lower in the rear and added an 8point cage.. ..
