Block clearancing?

Block clearancing?

does the block need to be clearanced for a 383 setup? If so how much would a machine shop charge?

I had it done for 500 cash (balanced, cam bearings installed, cleaned, bored, decked, and clearanced).

what about the oil pan do you have to get an aftermarket pan?

I had to dent in one of my pan rails just a hair on my stock pan. The Eagle h beams I used in my 383 have bolts that hang pretty low. So to answer your question no. Just may have to BFH it a little.

local machone shop here charges $120 to clearance the block on a cnc mill.

I ran an aftermarket pan for the extra oil not the clearance so I can't tell you if it fit.

^^ X 2. Stock pan can be used and will clear, just a bit of pan rail adjustment may be needed.
